What is liturgy?

Liturgy means “the work of the people” and refers to our order of worship. Typical Lutheran liturgy involves four parts: Gathering, the Word, the Meal, and Sending. Our order of worship is similar week to week and includes these four parts. We follow the Revised Common Lectionary, a three-year cycle of readings from the Bible that tell the story of scripture alongside the story of Jesus.

Practicing worship with liturgy helps us let go of the desire to “get it right” and lean into the mystery and joy of God’s presence. With provided words, prayers, and congregation responses, we trust that God’s presence comes to us in the shared “work of the people” each week in worship.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here’s what you can expect when you attend worship at Grace:

What should I wear?

Friends who attend Grace dress anywhere from business casual to jeans and t-shirts. We invite you to wear what makes you comfortable for worship.

Where should I park?

Our building is located in downtown Wadsworth with accessible city parking. Parking is available on the West side of the building directly behind Grace, accessible by King Street. Parking is available on the East side of the building across High Street at City Hall. Handicap parking is available at our handicap entrance on the North side of the building.

Where do I enter the building?

Our main entrances are on the North and West side of the building. A level-ground accessible entrance is located on the North side. The West side is our main office entrance. On Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings, the main doors in front of the church on High Street are open for worship.

What about children and families?

We welcome children and families in worship! Children’s activity bags are available as you enter the worship space. On Sundays, we provide children’s bulletins for children to engage during worship and a short children’s message time up front before the sermon. Children are welcome to stay with their parents or guardians for the duration of our worship. Nursery space is available for parents to use for care needs.

What if I don’t know Lutheran liturgy?

You are not alone! Our worship bulletin and leaders will guide you through. We use a hymnal book in worship for our music and will instruct you on how to find hymn numbers when you arrive.

Can I take communion?

Yes. We practice an open communion table, which means anyone who desires to receive communion and trusts in Jesus’s presence (children included) are welcome to receive communion in worship.
